Introducing a new and cool way of shopping on eBay
View Listings 26-06-07 14:43 IST
Hi,

We are excited to share the cool new ways of shopping on eBay.

New features for Buyers:

Introducing Shopping Cart for a complete shopping experience: Here is a cool way that will help you shop till you drop. Just add items to your Shopping Cart and keep shopping. You can then buy your items at one go later! Simple, isn’t it? To use the Shopping cart, follow the simple steps below:
1. Add an item by clicking the Add to Shopping Cart button on the View Item Page
2. Once you have finished your shopping, click the “My Shopping Cart” link on top of any eBay page.
3. Pay via PaisaPay for all the items added from one seller.

Note: The Shopping cart feature shall be available for all ‘Buy it Now’ items offering PaisaPay mode of payment. You can only pay for the items in your Shopping Cart by PaisaPay mode of payment.

To add items to your Shopping cart, you can click on the 'Add to Shopping Cart button' from the View Item Page:

You will be able to access your Shopping cart from the eBay header as well:

The Shopping cart link on the eBay header will lead you to your Shopping Cart Page.

A: All items selected from one seller
B: The continue button will help you pay for all the items from one seller at one go itself
C: All the items selected from a second seller
D: Items that you wish to save for later
E: Other items from the same seller

Fast Checkout for ‘Buy it Now’ Listings: For all our buyers who buy from Buy It Now listings, shopping on eBay will now be an easy 1-2-3 process. All you will need to do is:
• Click on the Buy it Now button (on the View item page)
• Provide your payment and shipping details.
• Commit the order and make the payment

Following Order details page will be your one stop to provide your payment and Shipping details:

A: Allows you to fill the Quantity you wish to buy
B: Is the default Shipping address. You can change the shipping address by clicking on the 'Change Shipping Address' link.
C: Allows you to choose the mode of shipment
D: Allows you to select the mode of payment by which you wish to make the payment
E: Continue to either confirm your purchase & pay

Locate Seller Contact Information easily: You have told us in the past that as a buyer it is not easy for you to locate your seller’s contact information. Going forward, for all the ‘Buy it Now’ and ‘Shopping Cart’ purchases, the order confirmation page, after you commit the order and make the payment, shall give you entire contact details of the seller. The same shall also be emailed to you for your records.

New features for Sellers:

Immediate Payment required with PaisaPay: As a seller, if you are offering only PaisaPay payment method on your ‘Buy it Now’ listings, the listing will close only after the buyer has made the payment via PaisaPay. Our seller community has been requesting for this feature for a while now and we are glad to inform you of the change.

Shipping Validation based on buyer Pin Code: Going forward the shipping charges for a buyer will be calculated based on the seller and buyer pin codes (instead of city). If the buyer and seller pin codes are from same city the buyer will be considered a local buyer and will be charged local shipping charges. Similar logic will apply to national buyers as well. In case the buyer pin code is not available in the database, he shall be considered a national buyer.

I hope you will find the above changes exciting and the changes will make eBay an easy and fun shopping destination for you. In case you have any question on the above, please feel free to post your questions on this thread. We shall be monitoring it on regular basis. You can also get in touch with our Customer Service resources to get help you with your questions.

Sapana

Hi eshopee18,

You do not need to offer it separately. If you are offering PaisaPay as the only mode of payment in your Buy it Now listings, it automatically becomes a Immediate Payment required listing. Such listings will not close until the buyer pays to you via PaisaPay.

Sapana

Hi Sandeep,

Thank you for your response suggesting the settings. I have changed the Combined Shipping setting in my Selling Preferences and created Profile too with different Shipping Discounts for different categories.

For American Diamonds I changed it to Rs. 12.00 for additional item and Revised all my American Diamonds listings with this preference in the Selling Form too. Still when I add 2 different items in the Shopping Cart it is calculating the full shipping charge of Rs. 100 for 2 items instead of Rs. 62.00

Shopping Cart is calculating Shipping Discount for 2 or more items from the SAME listing only NOT for 2 or more DIFFERENT items of same category.

Please fix this as soon as possible because this will affect sale of all the sellers too.

Hello skygiftworldwide,

Thank you for writing to us.

I personally added a couple of items listed by you and initiated a combined purchase. I observe that you offer an item level discount for multiple quantity of the same item (Rs. 12 for additional quantity). When I try to add more quantity of the same item, the shipping discount is working correctly.

But in case I combine 2 different items together the shipping cost displayed is Rs.50 + Rs. 50 = Rs. 100. This is happening because the amount you have mentioned in the shipping discount for combined purchases in My eBay is more than Rs. 50 for each additional item.

In order to make shipping discounts effective, when you are defining the amount in your My eBay Preferences section, you should specify an amount which is lower than Rs. 50 (lower than the one defined for each item, E.g. Rs. 25). This way the combined shipping cost will be Rs. 50 + Rs. 25 = Rs. 75 (instead of Rs. 100). This will enable the buyer to avail of the shipping discounts offered by you.

Regards

Sandeep

Hi Sapana!

I am selling American Diamonds in my eBay Shop. It is listed for different colours and shapes and I am giving Shipping Discount even though a buyer buys more than one item from different listings as well.

Now, the problem with the Shopping Cart is that a buyer has bought two American Diamonds of different colours from two different listings. The shipping charge is calculated full for both the items. Shopping Cart is not calculating the discount, neither the buyer can edit the Shipping Charge nor he can request for an invoice.

I have set to update the shipping charge by the buyer in my preferences. But it is not working for Shopping Cart.

At least there should be an option to Request an updated invoice from the seller in the Shopping Cart page.

Please advise what to do in this situation. If there is no way to allow discount for combined shipping for different listings then I will loose my sale.

Hi runalaila_in1,

As a buyer, you can remove products from your shopping cart by clicking on the 'remove' link located just below the item title. I checked it out and it is working as desired. In case you are facing any issues with removing the item, I will request you to send it to us via the Live Chat help or Contact Us link.

As a seller, if a buyer adds your product in his shopping cart, the product stays there until the buyer pays for it, removes it or the item expires. However, just by adding the product to the shopping cart does not mean that the product is reserved for the buyer. the product will be still available for other buyers to buy.

I hope the above has given you some clarification on your query. In case the above was not helpful, please feel free to write back.

Regards,
Sapana

Dear Sapana,

Unfortunately this new Shopping cart messed up my listing. No one can buy from shop. My last sales was 10th. I hope eBay will resolve my issue. Please read my post.

I hope eBay will help me to get some fees discount for this period. It is not my fault.

Hi

I am very glad to see new features specially about immediate payment requires.

I have noticed one thing about pin codes And it is giving problems to buyers as well as to sellers.

I am using Selling Manager Pro.
When a buyer purchase a product an email is sent to the buyer by Selling Manger Auto Response System. In that email the shipping charges are calculated of Local Shipping regardless to buyer's pin code or city.
But when buyer tries to pay online or make a checkout then only national shipping is applied, thus it makes a confusion as total does not tally with the shipping notification email's total.

I hope eBay's team will take note of it.

Warm Regards

Gaffar Latif

Hi urban.bazaar,

Glad that you find the new feature useful. Also, thanks for your suggestions. Currently, a buyer can add products in his cart from multiple sellers but will be able to make payment for one seller at a time (thus is a buyer has added 10 products from 3 sellers, he will need to checkout 3 times for individual sellers).

As you said, it will be great if a buyer could checkout for all products at one go itself. The team has already earmarked that as an area for future development. We shall keep our members updated of the change as and when it happens.

Thanks and Regards,
Sapana

I guess buyers can add items from multiple sellers and complete a single checkout but all th items added in the shopping cart by the buyer must be providing paisa pay as th sole option of payment :)

The "Immediate Payment required with PaisaPay" feature is probably one of the best things for sellers on eBAY. This would eradicate lot of headache associated with the Unpaid Items.

One suggestion for eBay: In the shopping cart that they have launched currently, buyer's can only add items from same seller. However on eBAY's U.S site buyers can use "Express Checkout" for all items from multiple sellers. If something like that could be launched here, that would be fantastic.

Sapna,

Sorry to state your reply "of what I know" does not help.

I need a categorical reply from your tech or whichever team has designed this.

I need to plan my shipping charges from 9/07/2007.

JUST FYI, My courier charges the same rate for Mumbai Metropolitan Area, i.e. Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai.

Hi garments_zone,

On shipping charge:

You will be able to provide local COD and only local buyers will be able to buy those products. There were certain lacunas earlier due to which national buyers were also able to buy local COD products. The change will rectify the concern.

Please feel free to post further question if any.

Hi coolbrasco,

Glad that you find the new features useful!

I have forwarded you suggestion to the concerned team. While there might not be an immediate impact via markdown manager, we will try and figure out a workaround.

Thanks and Regards,
Sapana

Hi veedeedirect,

Of what I know of, Thane is considered outside Mumbai and therefore not local. Couriers charge extra for Thane and thus it will come as national shipping.

For benefit of all, if you item location is different from that of your registered address, you can mention the same in your item location. The shipping charge will be calculated based on item location.

Please feel free to post further questions.

Sapana

Dear eBay,

Thanks a lot for brining this wonder feature the customers. In fact this is great for seller as well, less trouble chasing the customer for payment. Also for customers it is wonderful that they see the shipping discounts and total before they purchase.

I would like to suggest one small improvement regarding this. For this payment type we would like to offer some discount for buyer as well to encourage them to buy this than after purchase wait for our invoice, if you allow us to program 5% or 10% discount for customers though Markdown manager would be great. We have done shipping discounts setting for almost all the items, kindly show in bold that those items are eligible for shipping discounts and amount, that can encourage the buyer to buy more if interested. Or after first purchase, if we set up standard shipping discount for multiple purchase, please project in a right place, if he purchase more he will discount.

Thanks again for the eBay India team for this wonderful feature.

Best regards,
CoolBrasCo.

Sapana,

I ship from my warehouse which is located at Vasai, which falls in Thane District.

Now what would local be for me and what would National be for me?

Is the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (which includes Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai) local or Mumbai District (BMC area - Mankhurd - Mulund - Dahisar being the outer limits of Mumbai) is separte from Thane and as I ship from Thane, Mumbai would not longer be local for me?

Hi shahenshah0786,

I am sorry to dissapoint you, but I think I need to clarify on the immediate payment required feature.

The immediate payment feature ensures that if you are offering only PaisaPay mode of payment in your listings, your listings will not end until the buyer has paid for the product via PaisaPay. This will ensure that you will not have any Unpaid item issues.

The payment cycle for PaisaPay remains the same for now. please feel free to post further questions if any.

Regards,
Sapana

Hi kool_seller,

Yes you will be able to use Immediate payment required feature for your easy to buy listings (which are primarily new products & 'buy it now' listings together) that are offering PaisaPay as the mode of payment.

Immediate Payment required with PaisaPay.
this is very interesting and very feasible payment mode! as we already 1 month back and just written to ebay regarding this that the payment cycle is too long and the immidiate payment transfer is best idea. but how will this system work?

Hi,

Let me first express my appreciation for these new features.
Immediate Payment required with PaisaPay: Would this also apply to 'easy to buy' listings having only PaisaPay as the accepted mode of payment ?

Hi Sapana,

This is good news for Sellers, this will surely reduce unpaid items by buyers and reducing headaches for sellers.

Just looking forward to see ebay a great marketplace to buy and sell, like it is in other western conutries.

Also i have emailed you my concerns, hope you can address the same at your earliest convenience.

All the best

Hi Sapana!

Its a really good move for buyers and sellers. UPI will be reduced because unless a buyer doesn't pay, the item(s) will not be sold and will remain in the Shopping Cart. I welcome this feature, thanks to eBay India’s Product Management Team.

Hi nakatib,

On your second question:
what happens to sellers who are offering other modes of payment along with paisapay? is it that the buyers will not get the benifit of the shoppong cart of such sellers?

To avail the benefit of Shopping cart, the 'Buy it Now' listing will need to have PaisaPay as one of the payment options. The seller can offer other payment options as well in the same listing, however, he will neccecarily need to offer PaisaPay to help a buyer buy via Shopping Cart.

If your buyer adds the product to the Shopping Cart, he will be able to pay for them via PaisaPay only.

I hope the above gives further clarification. Please feel free to ask any other question that you may have in mind.

Sapana

Hi nakatib,

To your question:
how can ebay decide the sellers shipping fees based on the given buyers pincode? it has to be the sole discreet of the seller .or may be have i understood wrong?

Let me first clarify on the above:
Currently, when a buyer buys from you, the system checks the buyer's shipping address to see if he is eligible for local shipping charges or national shipping charges. In case the buyer has entered a wrong city name (Bombay instead of Mumbai) the system will not understand if it is a local shipment or national shipment. In such cases the system lets the buyer to decide the shipping charge. Often this creates confusion as buyer chooses the lowest applicable rate.

What changes: In the new system, the system will check the buyer's pincode and match it to the seller's. In case the pincode is from same city the buyer will be shown the options of local shipping. Otherwise he will be shown the options of national shipping. A national buyer will not be able to select shipping charge applicable for a local shipment.

Another benefit of the system is that if you are offering only local COD as a payment/shipping option, and a national buyer wants to buy it on COD, he will not be able to buy the same.

Hope this clarifies the question on shipping.

Regards,
Sapana
