as we were told in this conv. that the last "installment" of powerseller material will be dispatched on 18/09/09 but till now i have not received the same.
as per mr. indraneed the last dispatch of powerseller pcaking material (not ordinary ebay packing material) was dispatched on 18th sep (read his commnet on this thread) but i did not receive any material yet. why it is so ???
I think rather than making or offering reusable material for packaging, we must promote sellers and educate buyers to appreciate and value the use of material that is used.
It must be noted that a bulk quantity always need special care in transit which require good quality packing but single items which shipped directly buyers is much easier to handle and if one is carefull can make fine packaging out of used material.
I am sure most sellers are getting corrugated boxes and paper when they receive shipments from suplier, they can use from that material. Only issue is it require little more time to pack compared to readymade stuff but I am sure we all willing to do so for sake of our environment.
As for eBay, I know and trust that you make no profit out of selling branded packing material, then why not promote a educational programm for using waste for the same. I have no doubt that each of buyer and seller (you have daily numbers of shipments that move within this community) will do best to contribute his/her share in saving our environment.
I don't think any other portal have such a diversified base of members, which can be instrumental in igniting a march for green earth.
Finally it is eBay which could convince buyers (sellers are more than happy to do so as always) to accept and appreciate such move.
You are correct that no one can guarantee tamper free delivery since the delivery goes through multiple hands. However, by using products that are difficult to replace once tampered with, you are reducing the chances of pilferage.
Further, please allow me to assure you that eBay is not making any money on packing material. The material is being provided to you at cost. If you know of a cheaper way of producing it, please share with us and we will be happy to explore it further.
Also, being an environmentalist myself, I agree that we should promote re-usable material. The ideal material in my mind are corrugated boxes. However, the costs of each box for shipping retail consignments is prohibitive. If you think there is some material that can be safely used for packing, is economical and easy to use then do share with us.
1) Can you "YOU" assure us that using these bags items a) will be delivered b) will not be tampered c) will be safe from theft and most D) DSR will be high
I say you can not.....because a) Shipping company (Courier), b) delivery, c) transit and thereby damage and theft is not BAG and TAPE dependent but how your handling company does.
Let me take a example: 1) I use private material and ship and a issue is opened with damage or lost...........what and how ebay handle it? 2) With ebay bags and tape....tell me will you unconditionally support seller as he used tamper proof and branded "premium" stuff by ebay ?
3) If I ship item with this stuff and still receive low DSR for S/H, will you fix that for me ?
4) Buyer leaved me feedback stating "high S/H" charges as I will pass extra charges to buyers, will you fix that for me without any questions asked ?

I on the other hand use good quality envelop, a plastic bag when necessary and then add used material (without compromising safety and quality) which not only saves me lot of money but saves my buyers money for sure. AND it assist me to put in my little effort for environment.
What ebay is selling : 1) Plastic bag: you have to tear it to open : can not reuse and dump in garbage can which pollute your entire livelyhood
2) Tape: used only once and -------------do------------
3) Invoice: how many of you save that piece of paper after you recive it ? Why not supply it when asked for or necessary such as billed/warranty items.

I say, gather all sellers here and lets starts a effort for Green Life. Promote used packaging material, reusable boxes and offer a special discount who do so.
Funny part is Mother of ebay.in i.e EBAY.COM always ask me if I wish to offer some of my profit to charity of some kind, paypal do same and in India they are doing every effort to kill out environment rather than leaving it as it is.
When I look at prices of these materials it turns out that ebay.in found a new way to make money if fee it charge is not enough.
Tapes 3 for 200.00 is twice the market price and since ebay have done little to seller why you need a tape with ebay logo ? Same for shipping bags and letterheads.
BTW, since printing machines are getting cheaper, if you live in or near big city, you can get these printed (your logo and stuff) in small qty (500 min) at very reasonable rates and graphics are done thru computers you can keep them printing as per your need (every 3 or 6 months).
Rather than buying 500 worth stuff invest 3000 and you get more than double qty and even customisation of your choice.
Please ebay team confirm once if you dispatched my last instalment of envelopes. Today its 20th of September i did not received any package.I am waiting for your response please advice.

Hello, This is a regarding the sudden discontinuing of "Power Seller" Packing Material to Power Sellers. I had recd. the last lot in May 2009 and after that nothing ! There was no mail / intimation from ebay confirming the same, until about a week ago ! Am unaware about the reason for not sending the Packaging Material anymore, but if it's cost cutting then makes little sense to me. A sudden decision like this without any intimation / explaination does not reflect too well ! I hope ebay "Power Sellers" do get the "Power Seller Branded" Packinging material as before. Hi received the packing materials today and they are nice.I am not a power seller and in my products it is mentioned no where as power seller.I hope the shipper may be sending power seller packing material only if a power seller buys through his power seller buyer account.

i received the bags & tape rolls today which i had ordered on saturday. Well i was surprise to get the Tape Roll which i used to get as PowerSeller, its same tape roll which is meant for PowerSeller. So i just need to know any seller can pay and get the PowerSeller Tape Rolls now? I am PowerSeller so its ok with me but if non PowerSeller getting the same tape rolls is unfair towards PowerSellers like me. Hope ebay team explain this matter.
About the bag quality i found it little lower then previously we used to get in PowerSeller packing mtrl but its good.
Who gave this information with this comment? Shipment got damaged? as seller is not at all receiving calls nor replying any of my emails. Will i be getting the item as i want to see for the sample. And yeah never depend on single seller as this seller seems careless for ebays promo for him.
I suggest give the rights to powersellers like us who really know how to deal with ebay online business.
It's not that easy to sell on ebay .... but before giving all the rights to a particular manufacturer ebay should have ensured that he his committed to selling on ebay.

What ever the problem is .... the Seller must respond to Buyers emails and Calls.
I suggest that a single person should not be given exclusive rights for these bags. Atleast 2-3 Sellers be there to sell these bags (with different Designs) at a fixed Price so that the ebay Sellers Community is not effected by such un-foreseen circumstances like ... "shipment got damaged." .
same prb is faced by me too.. i purchased few bags + tape roll on last saturday, m in mumbai yet the item is not shipped neither the seller replying any email nor he is contactable on the mentioned landline number.

I wanted to get eBay branded packing for my customers, but though I am a powerseller for the last 2 months, I never got them.But then I understood there are many more sellers who have become powersellers much before me and havent received the same yet.I hope as Sapna said,the last powerseller material would be sent out by Sept 18th,I am looking forward to receive them!
I know eBays policies are changing for the better .But I am also of the same opinion of not discontinuing the power seller branded packing materials.If eBay can not give them for free,they can offer the branded packing at a discounted price for the power sellers.
Also I would request to include smaller sized outer packing bags for purchase.
I saw that you have some classy watches on sale. I hope you are in touch with your Category Manager and speaking to him about promotions and other ways of moving the inventory faster.
If you have a similar colleciton of vintage watches,then you can sell them on eBay, as there is a huge demand for such watches. It will also help you reach your 100th feedback faster
We understand that seller's costs will get passed on to buyers. That is a normal business practice. However, we are also sure that sellers will keep the costs minimal to ensure that their prices are competitive to the buyer.
On some sellers having excess packing material - It is a reflection of our inaccurate foecasting of seller's requirement . Which incidentally is another reason why we decided to make it freely availble so that sellers can buy it as per their requirement.
On more benefits to Power Sellers - I hope you have read about the eBay Top rated seller program that has been launched on US, UK and Germany sites. The intent behind the program is to reward sellers with great service levels with increased exposure and discounted fees. Over the next year, we shall evaluate it and if suitable will roll it out on India site as well. Stay tuned!
Also, to ensure that you will qualify as a top rated seller, watch out for low DSR scores that you get. If you are getting 1 or 2 on any DSR scores, try modifying your business practice to avoid the same.

On the packing material not being ready - Apparently, his shipment got damanged. However, we are working with the vendor to ensure that the processes and availability are completely streamlined.

On honouring PowerSellers, I agree with you. I wonder if you have read about the eBay Top rated seller program. It is a great way to reward sellers who give high quality of service to buyers. As of now the program has been launched for US, UK and Germany sites. If and when we decide to roll it on India site, it will help us reward quality sellers with greater visibility and discounted fees. To prepare well for it, watch out for low DSR scores that you get. We have removed any posts that offered to buy or sell the PowerSeller packing material as using the discussion boards to advertise or make a listing is agasint the boards policy.
Therefore, please dont be surprised to see some posts missing. And do avoid making such posts in future.

This is now available to sellers like me too who might take a long time to become PS.
shivamemory has made a very good suggestion that polybags should be available in small size also like 5"x7", 6"x10" etc. This is very important for sellers of mobile batteries, memory cards, card readers etc. Please implement this ASAP.
One more very valid point raised here is that Power Sellers MUST continue to get eBay packing materials FREE. As power sellers they must be distinctly honored. They deserve it for their good reputation and also for bringing in revenue to eBay.
Lastly the ebay merchandise seller does not have all the stocks ready. Requesting you to please look into the matter.
I did contacted the person. But HE LIED TO YOU I NEVER TOLD HIM TO SELL OUTSIDE OF EBAY.
This means he is not trustable.
I asked him if he can also sell unprinted unbranded envelopes instead of these printed one and how much they will cost. this is what we asked him. i never asked him to sell outside of ebay. I am still a PowerSeller but since PS do not have any power even the few freebies have been taken away, so it seems the PS status is irrelevant now
How is that if some PS have excess stock of Packing Material, you decided to charge all PS who are doing volume business?
It is seems ebaY like to favor the small time / part time seller over the dedicated full time sellers.
Again an additional annual cost of Rs.40,000/- to Rs.50,000/- will not be borne by PS like me and will definately be passed to the buyers.
Yes, I calculated the prices considering that you will only use small bags for the items that you ship .

The point being that sellers can now order what they and how much they want and that too at rates which are cheaper than of those materials which are inferior in quality + not so advisable when it comes for safety of your items.
