Hello, I am an Australian student doing a project on India. I am designing a building for scheduled caste people living in a remote village in Tamil Nadu India. Can you please tell me what is the cheapest floor covering for a bathroom or kitchen? (I am considering either a roll of vinyl or, perhaps painting a waterproofing compound onto the timber floor.) Also can you please tell me if there is a website that shows the cost of materials such as nails, bolts, hinges, cement, and other basic building materials in Rs? Thank you so much, Kind regards, Benita
Vinyl flooring is the easiest way of getting ur costs under control with no use of cement and u can directly have it fixed with adhesive.
But in Bathroom! are u serious rite now? and in Kitchen.. not going to work.. the poor guy is going to break his head slipping on one of those.
Go for the cheapest brand 300mm x 300mm floor tiles (Matt finish and not glossy) the most ordinary brand is available at RS 20-22/- per piece (300mm x 300mm) A good news is that they can be fixed through adhesive too. (Rs 1200 for 5 liter jar) Get a local flooring mechanic to get ur area measured. Go to a local sanitary shop and get this done..simple! Hope it helps
