Hello hi2k_soho,

eBay has been built on a strong foundation of community and of ensuring a level playing field for all users. We find that the level playing field has allowed a large number of entrepreneurs to operate on the same footing as big brands. This has, at once, enhanced seller opportunity and consumer choice. We hope that you too will benefit by being able to operate in an environment which fosters healthy competition. We look forward to your continued support.

Best Regards
Rajan

Hello vikasintl_in1,

If inadvertently, someone from the eBay India team has conveyed a misplaced sense of arrogance, I apologize.I must say that I have the pleasure of working with some of the finest young professionals that I've had the opportunity of meeting in my career. They are committed to improving the site for our community of users. We exist because of our community, and we just cannot afford to be insensitive to our user needs.

Thank you for your feedback.

Hello deepalatwal,

Thank you for pointing out some of the benefits of selling on eBay. You have pointed out a concern that sellers have expressed in the past. Clearly, the buying process on eBay is a bit different from what it was on Baazee, and it is possible that this could be one reason why buyers end up not paying for their purchase. The team is investigating this, and we will look at modifying the process to make it more intuitive for buyers to pay for their item.

We have discussed the option of asking buyers to input their credit card before bidding with some of our sellers. While you have pointed out the advantage of doing so, the flip side is that this can have a significant impact on the number of users who will actually bid for their item. Sellers might end up losing a significant amount of 'good' sales either because buyers do not have a credit card, or might not want to use it. So sellers themselves came back and told us that it might not be the optimal solution.

Having said that, the issue of Unpaid Items is one of the key issues that we are looking at improving and continue to solicit the feedback of helpful community members such as yourself.

Best Regards
Rajan

Hello shoemall_in1,

Firstly, it is unfortunate that it took over a month for us to reflect the amount you have paid against your invoice. Let me assure all our members that this is a rare instance, most of the payments reflect on time, but I will ask my team to ensure that we reduce such delays.

As regards the question specifically related to your account, in the interest of privacy, I'll not address the query in this forum. If you've already written into Customer Service, I'll try and ensure that the team responds to you soon.

Best Regards
Rajan

Hello franklin2k5,

I apologize for the delay in your receiving the claim amount. My team informs me that we had dispatched the cheque to you for your earlier claim over a month back, so it seems that there might have been a problem in transit. We are checking with our courier company, and will get back to you once we hear from them.

I would like to suggest a new feature for ebay india website.
There can be a option which will be tell whether a buyer has been verified or not.
Buyers can verify themselves just like sellers.
Now because ebay india is growing every buyer cannot be necesarily verified. So with each buyer there is a icon whether he is verified buyer or not.
After receiving a N number of +ve ratings he becomes a verified buyer automatically.
Sellers can specify in their listing block whether they want only verified buyers or allow both kind of buyers.
This way there would be significant reduction in nigerian fraud as they generally buy only high value items and sellers selling the high value items can require the buyer to be verified.
I hope ebay india team would look into my posting and include the feature in ebay.in website. :)
Regards,

rishabh_iitk2001

Dear sharathmodi,

I regret that you have had an unpleasant experience with fraud buyers on the site, purporting to be from Nigeria. eBay has a Trust & Safety team which comprises former officers from various branches of Law Enforcement whose role it is to ensure safety for the users of our websites. We constantly share information and best practises across various countries to keep such fraudsters off our site. That said, the unfortunately reality is that fraudsters continously try and find new ways to beat our systems. We are constantly on the lookout for such fraudsters and will work with local police authorities to bring them to book.

Best Regards
Rajan

Dear Mr. Rajan

I am Achintya Ghosh from Kolkata, and associated with eBay for the last 3 and half years, mainly as a part time seller. Although selling thru eBay is my hobby yet I try to maintain the professionalism.

Issues were, are, will be, yet I personally think about those issues to be taken into account which are badly affected eBay.in. I donot want to mention the issues which effects only me. But issues like

1. Page Not Responding
2. Lengthy Checkout process
3. Error in FVF credit filing
4. Deactivation of tools like SM and SMpro
5. Seller suspension for a period of 30 days
etc. etc. effecting the sellers as well as buyers. There are few potential buyer and few reputed sellers are exist in eBay.in. Whats the reason behind this desatisfaction?

I donot want to compare baazee with eBay, yet in baazee time there was a personal touch, which helps to resolve so many issues without doing anything, just one friendly telephonic conversation and issues are resolved.
If we face any problem most of the time we get reply like a cassette player, and after some days we forgot the issue unresolved. This creates desatisfaction. There is toll free phone service, I personally tries with that service and got response "Use Contact Us like", means communicate thru eMail.

Although few are there in eBay who still helps me/us over phone, which we generally get in eBay time after long long email conversation, this most of the makes us adament.

As instance I can mention the name of persons

1. Prashant (PaisaPay) - I had so many issues regarding PaisaPay e.g. delay in receiving DD, chargeback etc. Yet now there will be no complain from me regarding PP as I will always think Prashant is there.

2. Navin - When I talked to him regarding any issue, he helps me a lot, even later I forgot about my issue, only his assurance over phone satisfied me.

3. Sapana and Sanjay - No words are sufficient for them.

Even one lady named "Justin" who left few years back, asked me to send one product at Baazee office for creating better image for better visualization.

The aboves are very silly matter but psychologycally has a good impact on members.

We are getting almost same help from them which we get thru eMail after a harassment/desatisfaction.

Indians are get convinced easily with little personal touch, which are totally absent in eBay.in.

I feel(may be wrong) eBay.in dont have any resources(?) to give any proper explanation/remedies, because these are dealing by someone else at USA. I mean to say that the total eBay.in administration is on the hand of USA peoples. Either they don't want to understand the Indian Problems or eBay.in local admin fails to convinced them.

If I am wright, then please transfer some administrative job from USA to India, allot those job to eBay India people, I am sure eBay.in will lead the Global eBay soon in near future.

Hello joe_kochi,

Yes, it is possible for you as a buyer in India to buy from other eBay sites. However, you will have to check with the seller on the payment method. Secondly, you will also have to ensure that it is legal to import the item into the country of import and comply with any customs or regulatory issues.

Dear lnxreddy,

I regret the unpleasant experience you have had as a buyer. Clearly your expectations as a buyer are not unrealistic and it is our constant endeavour to improve the buying and selling experience for our community of users. We aim to make eBay the place where buyers can find the widest breadth of goods for the best price. Unfortunately, ocassionally due to the marketplace model that we have, some transactions do not go through smoothly. While this is rare, I fully understand your angst as a buyer and would encourage you to communicate with the seller. We find that such communication often results in the issue getting resolved without the need of intervention from eBay and the buyer and seller actually enter into many more subsequent transactions.

In case your issue is not resolved by communicating with the seller, you can claim for Purchase Protection under our Standard Purchase Protection programme.

Best Regards
Rajan

Dear vijay1653,

Thank you for your comments. We always look forward to hearing from our buyers, because many a times we tend to hear more from our sellers.

As a marketplace where we only provide a platform for our users to trade, it is almost impossible for us to inspect each and every product that sellers put up for sale. One way in which you can buy with more confidence on eBay is by checking on the feedback score and comments that sellers have received from other buyers. In addition, we have a Power Seller program. PowerSellers are sellers who are held to the highest standards of professionalism, having achieved and maintained an extremely high positive feedback rating and an excellent sales performance record.

Look for the PowerSeller icon next to your seller's User ID.

In the case that you received an item that is significantly not as described, you can Open an Item Not Received or Significantly Not as Described dispute. Buyers who are unable to resolve their concerns through the Item Not Received or Significantly Not as Described dispute process may then be eligible for reimbursement through eBay's Standard Purchase Protection Program.

You can read more details about these programs here

Item Not Received or Significantly Not As Described Policy - http://pages.ebay.in/help/policies/inr-snad-policy.html

Dear megapower_india,

Yes, it is an area of concern that some sellers are charging extremely high shipping charges for auctions starting at Re. 1. Buyers are dissatisifed with this.

We will shortly be introducing a policy on Shipping Charges by which we can take action against such sellers. We have created a new merchandising property called 'Hot Selling' which has the exact filter of minimum 2 bids that you have suggested. One of the reasons we have not applied this filter to 1 Paisa Auctions is so we could actually display items starting at Re. 1 to buyers who land on this section.

Our marketing team is debating whether we should start charging for this property. What are your veiws about this?

Best Regards
Rajan

Hello apnservices,

As you are probably aware, eBay India already has a payment service called 'PaisaPay' which facilitates online payments via credit cards and online bank transfers. We are currently in the process of working on enhancements to our existing solution to improve the Buyer and Seller user experience. To your question on PayPal, you may be aware that PayPal is a subsidiary company of eBay.com Inc. which is independently managed and constantly evaluates expansion into various countries. Our understanding is that PayPal does not have immediate plans to enter India.

Dear ankitarora_bzb,

Thanks for your comments. This is a suggestion that we have heard in the past as well. We have explored this in the past. We have discussed this issue earlier with the sellers and most of them have their own preferences on which courier companies to use. Sellers might not be comfortable with us imposing a particular courier company for them to use. At the same time, courier companies want guaranteed business in order to give better rates. Since this is not possible in a marketplace model where we only provide the platform, what we have observed working best is for the sellers to strike their own deals with the courier company of their choice.

If your concern is about high shipping charges, yes we are looking at ways in which we can ensure that sellers are charging a realistic shipping charge, without compromising on their ability to do business.

Best Regards
Rajan

During our experience with ebay india team I strongly felt that most of your team members are very arrogant and irresponsible.
So personally offer my services to ebay india ,you can hire me ,as being a seller on this site for years I know where are loopholes. Why so many 'sale not completed' and why both buyers and sellers are loosing interest in this site.
But I belive in quick and positive action so also I expect certain power to take descisions.
let me know if you are interested,If you offer a satisfactory salary and certain descision taking power I am ready to boost your sales without any further investment.

Sir, i am a trusted seller on ebay, but i must tell you one thing about Ebay, that it is in no way better than Baazee. I admit that Ebay has some powerful series of tools for the sellers, but what we are gonna do with these tools if a buyer purchases and do not pays.
This is not a 1-day experience, this is my overall experience on Ebay, and i must let you know this.
When i used to sell on Bazee, it was very cool, and my sales was very high. Even the people who didn't paid online, surely did offline payment. At least 7 out of every 10 sales was paid by the buyer.
But in the case of Ebay, its opposite. Out of every 10 sale, only 1 is being paid. I dont know about other members, but at least in my case its the fact. So, i am having a suggestion for you. The major problem is that people buy, but after that do not pays (mostly) or do not select a payment method. So, Ebay must make some way out so that people who buy something should pay at the same time, otherwise their order get cancelled within a day, like Rediff Auctions. they take the Credit Card No. of their bidders already before bidding, so that the seller may be protected from fraud sales. so, please act upon this seriously, otherwise i will lose trust on this so-called Shopping heaven.

Would request you to add this feature on ebay so that it is easy to manage our listing. The gold rate is fluctuating every day and it is very difficult for us to edit the price of each item individually, we would request you to add a feature using which we can bulk edit the item starting price and insurance amount.

Hope to get a positive reply

Dear praveenb77 you are going to be Cheated by the buyer. eBay will not tell you. After you complete transaction eBay will de-register Buyer and will refuse to give you details. They will ask you to go to police etc. These scams are known as 4 1 9 A D V A N C E F E E S C A M S. Nigerian police are trying their best, however fraudsters disappear. Your sale will also turn out to be a advance fee - read below, unless they are trying something new.

These cheats abound in eBay, they do nothing about it. WHY? Because it means money for them, they don't care if a seller or buyer are cheated - eBay rakes in the Moolah. Do a search on Internet (google) you will find this Nigerian story is common, it is so common it is now a joke, however people still get cheated.

Next the Nigerian will say he is going to add Rs5000.00 to 15000.00 extra and send you a Cheque. You will pay difference to some imaginary relative who will collect difference. After a further 1 week the Cheque will bounce and your bank A/C will be overdrawn.

The difference is in 3-4 days your bank will make the money available it WILL NOT HAVE CLEARED. People think it has cleared and proceed only to be .......CHEATED.

Hi Rohit/Rajan,

I am a seller on Ebay and have a suggestion. I am not sure if you are the right person to contact but I know none others whom I can contact.

The suggestion is:
For the seller, under the All selling link on My ebay page, It would be very convenient if the gallery image appears under the Schedules, Selling, Sold, Unsold. This avoids a lot of confusion when a seller has many dispatches a day as it is acts as a one spot reference.

Rohit/Rajan, if you are not the right person to solve my problem, can you plz refer me to the right person.

Regards,
