I notice that you are a regular seller on the website and I am sorry to hear about your bad buying experience. As an experienced seller on the website I am sure that you apreciate some of the challenges that we face as a platform. Sometimes we come across sellers who may not meet up to the expectations of our buyers. Recongnizing these chalenges we have a comprehensive Buyer Protection Program in place, which I understand you are availing.


On your difficulty with process related to Buyer Protection claim, I appreciate your feedback that the process can take some time. The checks and balances of asking for proofs etc are placed to ensure that the claims are not misused and thus benefit the rightful buyers. I am passing the feedback to the TnS team and will ask them to look into simplifying the process.


I also understand your frustration on receiving what you consider an unfair negative. I would encourage you to respond to it with the facts so that other users, who read the feedback, get a fair picture. Also, you might want to approach ODR India to get the rating reviewed.


I also want to assure you that your feedback to the seller via dispute console or negative feedback does not go unnoticed. eBay takes appropriate action against sellers under the Seller non performance guidelines.

Hi All,

Clearly I should have realized that 60 minutes was not going to be enough :). Indconcepts has a good suggestion on refreshments, unfortunately we'll need to take a rain check on this.

Some thoughts to leave you with as I head for a meeting I'm already late for:

a. I will respond to all unanswered questions by tomorrow evening so track this thread if your post remains unanswered.

b. One of the areas I'd like to hear more from the community about is how we drive more value to our Top Buyers.

c. User Experience and Customer service are important areas of focus for me - stay tuned for more in this regard.

d. In the near future, we will be also focussing on High Impact buyer promotions to drive value for our buyers, while bringing in greater sales for our sellers


I trust these and some of the other initiatives we've planned in the near future will siginifcantly contribute to the vibrancy of our Marketplace.

As I had said you earlier,I had personally met the Head custom officer here in Surat and he said that its illegal to accept money via any means without having the FIRC.

You say about "legal requirements", FIRC Is the legal requirement.

So please kindly tell me why Paisapay do not issue FIRC??

A buyer from USA send payment in USD but I recieve the payment in INR.

So there should a FIRC from Paisapay.Its must.

Any seller selling good outside India without FIRC is doing illegal.

I am sure you are trying to escape the main point.

As indicated in my response to Indconcepts below I want to assure you that it is legal to receive payments through PaisaPay for international transactions as long as export formalities are complied with.

For all transactions (domestic & international), eBay expects sellers on its site to comply with all the legal requirements of doing business in India.

Further clarity on some of the specific questions raised by you could be sought from export workshops conducted by industry experts (like the one by DHL in Sept 2006) from time-to-time.

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling victimised. eBay members are mostly helpful and community boards are a great example of the same. However, at times you come across experiences that are not in good taste.

To block uninvited buyers, you may wish to use bidder management tool to block users with whom you do not wish to trade with:

Ebay has a very powerful tool that enables you to decide the kind of buyers who can bid/purchase your products. This tool is called the “Buyer Requirement Tool”, which enables you to select the criteria of buyers.

Currently you can block buyers who do NOT meet all or any of the below criteria:

•Buyers in countries to which you don’t ship
•Buyers with a negative feedback score
•Buyers with Unpaid Item strikes

You can also ask your bidder to verify himself before he bids/purchases your product.

To set your buyer Requirements, follow the instructions below:

a)Log into “ My Ebay Page”
b)Under “ My Account”, click on Preferences
c)Under Buyer Requirements, click on “ Edit” & select your criteria’s

I would strongly urge you to go through these tools in details which may help you reduce number of unsuccessful transactions.

We believe different features provide different value. The Home Page feature is for higher value products with sellers having the option to direct traffic to their shops to showcase their other items.

As regards your query on Gallery, we believe the feature is a lever our sellers have to improve successful listings; in order to maximize the use of gallery, I understand we often promote this feature and will continue to do the same.

This is to bring to your notice that ebay has become cheaters paradise.
There is no credibility check done for the sellers and taking advantage of it these fake sellers dupe the buyers for thousands of rupees and vanish.
There is no body to listen to complaints.

You had not answered the main point of the issue,Please kindly check my post about the FIRC.

any item which is exported from India with advance payment must have FIRC.

Why Paisapay is not providing FIRC?I can not export good without FIRC and any seller who is sending item without FIRC is doing it in a illegal way.It may result into penalty/imprisionment as Foreign exchange rules are very tough.

I hope that you will answer to the issue of FIRC.

I dint got any FIRC from Paisapay and thus had to refund whole amount to the buyer from Italy.

Please do not escape the issue of FIRC,We seller are agree to pay the charges for the FIRC.

But FIRC is must for exports.

COD error and VAT issue – I understand the frustration that you as a seller would be facing. We have heard this feedback in past. The team is working on the COD issue and I believe we will have some resolution for the same by 2nd half of 2007.



The VAT issue is also under the scanner. However, I will be honest that it is slightly lower on the priority list. I will ask the team to update the Community members if there is any update on the topic.



Past Discussions and Timelines:



OBT to seller’s bank account, I - We expect to have this feature on site in later half of 2007

Integrated Checkout - We expect to see this feature on site by middle of 2007.



Immediate Payment required feature – I understand that this feature will help us bring down UPI. We were contemplating to get it on site; however, under the current circumstances it seems improbable. Having said that, I will like to assure you that we are looking at various other programs to bring down UPI rate on site.



Regarding your question on changes in Enhanced Listing fee, Increasing Multiple Quantity limit and enhancing Buyer experience on site – We are constantly looking at ways to enhance findability on the site. One step in this direction was Listing fee in Mobiles and Accessories category. We saw that the listing fee positive impacted the conversion rates in the category. We will be further evaluating various changes to bring more value for the sellers, while creating a positive impact for the buyers.



On your question on Using Debit card for accepting payments, I am afraid that banking norms in India do not allow for the same. Therefore I do not foresee it happening in near future.



On Buyer Verification and Alignment of SNP metrics to Indian conditions, as you know our current functionality does not allow for buyer verification, or offering products only for specific set of buyers only. We believe that India is in acquisition mode and therefore we will like to minimise any friction to trade.

On the SNP front, while we will continue to follow the current SNP model, the team has localised the SNP reinstatement model, such that it is easier for sellers to get reinstated after suspension. For example, earlier the seller had to give a Proof of Delivery that contained full buyer address. However, this practice is not followed by the courier company. However, the same has been changed, and now PODs with incomplete address are also accepted.

Similarly, launch of ODR India as third party dispute resolution has seen a reduction in SNP based suspension, for sellers are able to resolve most cases via ODR.

While a PayPal symbol would convey greater trust, it's important to highlight that PayPal is a separate legal entity. PaisaPay is a platform available only on eBay India and as such we cannot display the PayPal icon against listings which offer PaisaPay.

As regards more visibility for a particular category, I'd encourage you to post your comments on category structure changes at http://forums.ebay.in/thread.jspa?threadID=600000252&start=0 and we'll try and get the same incorporated as appropriate.

I have a concern regarding dealer warranty , I buy a product ( olympus camera ) in December from ebay and it was mentioned that it have warranty and bill included, when I got the camera it was having some manufacturing fault and I noticed that after 7 days , I talked to sellere and he told me that this product is under warranty can be repaired in mumbai only and Olypus can't repair it, I sent the product back to Mumbai from Gurgaon and requested seller to get change it with working one , but he denied to do that, and later he was ready to exchange it with a higher price canon S3IS camera, but for that camera warranty too, it would be covered in mumbai only,
My question in this case is : is it smuggled item seller is selling on ebay that canon or olympus can't give warrenty, also there is lot of price different between company and seller price.
If I got to canon Gurgaon can they give service on dealer bill and warranty card ?

The PaisaPay team runs certain risk filters to prevent against possible misuse of credit cards. Sometimes, these filters throw up what we call a false positive i.e. the user was genuine but the filters caught the transaction. This seems to have been the case in your instance. I realize that this diminshes the buying experience but would like to emphasize that this is being done with a view to ensuring the safety of the credit card user. We are constantly working on refining our risk filters and one of the important objectives is to reduce the instances of false positives. I will point the team towards your case as and example of another false positive.

We work very hard to educate sellers on the importance of providing Buyers a good buying experience. Unfortunately notwithstanding all our efforts we find that some sellers do not live up to our buyers expectations. We have always placed importance on providing our buyers a good experience and will continue to work to improve our seller education programs, as also to proactively take action against erring sellers early, to prevent buyers from having a bad experience.

2. The PaisaPay platform is a safe & convenient mechanism for making online payments. It is disappointing to note that certain sellers have not completed the transactions with you as committed. Under the circumstances, buyers could leave negative feedback against the concerned seller or use the Dispute Console to lodge a complaint. On receipt of such complaints, we will take action against the seller under our Seller Non Performance guidelines.
3. Thanks for your tip on phone support for buyers – this is something that has often been asked for by the community and I assure you that we will give it due consideration and revert to the community on this issue before the end of this quarter.
4. As regards your request for a seminar in Guwahati, I’ll forward your request to our Acquisition team.

feel very sad ..the way these ebay people is doing with me..they are asking a hell of things...like they want me to send them a fax copy of paise pay payment email sent to me by ebay...i feel sad..why man ...ebay has all the records than why this..just to harrass buyers..so they drop their claim out of frustation..and as i far i know they have done nothing to the seller so..its just trhey are with the sellers and not with buyers...and this type of cheating will be on a higher side in future..these sellers have multiple ids and they are cheating in a big way...which will become a scam in future also...hope ebay will help protect its name and goodwill...

PLEASE BE CARE FUL IN DEALINGS WITH THESE SELLERS..THEY ARE HAVING MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS AND ARE SAME PERSONS...NAMELY 1.bluejewels_india....2.monikaenterprises....they are cheating epople in every way...there gold is not even 9kt where they say its 12kt ..and there diamonds is of very poor quality than what they mention in the auction and also the weight of diamonds ..is very less...in my case they its 0.10cents..where as they gave me only 0.03 cents..when i ask them they say return the item and we will give you 75% return...why..they are earning cool 25% with out doing anything..so i warned all ebay genuine buyers to be aware of them..and they don;t reply to you when you raise a dispute...and ebay in is helpless in doiong anything to them..i think...i have bought 2 items ...the item nos are ..1.130046001352 and other one is 120049032665..they are giving siolver instead of gold bny rodium polishing it ...ebay should do something to stop them from cheating people.

As regards your question relating to buyers getting the message “Ask seller if he would ship to your country”, this occurs when the seller does not specify international shipping charges. Thus if an international buyer is buying from a listing on the India site, he will get this message, so as to ensure that there is no miscommunication between buyer and the seller. I agree with you on simplifying the Buyer Experience; however I believe in this instance clarity at the time of confirming the transaction is better than the buyer facing post transaction pain when he discovers high shipping charges that he did not expect.

If a seller lists with International Shipping option, buyers do not see this message. I'd encourage you to evaluate this option to increase your conversion rates.
