Based on the various inputs and suggestions that the community has been providing to us we have made significant changes in the Fee Structure of eBay India.
We are pleased to let you know that we have announced the 'Upcoming Pricing changes on eBay India'.
Please provide your valuable comments and suggestions on this thread.
Hi, I dont need to do duplicate listing to make it 1500. But Devesh surely needs to do that. Loose gemstones will have problem to counter spamming. No fixed rule can solve this riddle. Let us see what happens after 9th. ILF is a perfect decision. We are entering a new era. I am very hopeful. Thanx, Truly, Amitava
Hi, this is a good step in increasing the volume of listings on eBay.in.How about reducing the paisapay fees as it really bites your pocket.I once sold a laptop for around Rs.17500 and was charged a whopping 1400 quids as paisapay fees. After that I made it a point not to list on Indian site of eBay.As I pay very less thru PayPal.I think many of my Indian sellers would have faced experiences like mine. bargain_dealz_4u
I have not been a very active contributor to the community. However I do follow the community for quite sometime now.
I appreciate the recent changes that eBay will be enforcing.
For sellers like me who have been dealing in Books, there has been no Good News from eBay's side. No reduction in any categories of fees. Also there is an increase in Shop Fees.
Anyways I understand that for any change that happens in the system, there is a Good Side which we have already seen on many sellers views and opinions ( A Big Smile and as well as their willingness to do more business ) and the flip side is all the complaints that come in. But we cannot complain on that since its the point of view of many.
Anyways I congratulate the team to improve seller benefits and try making it possible for many to grow.
ebaY supports multiple business models and you the category team should understand that and appreciate that.
There are some sellers who want to upload unending inventory even if none of it sells. Fine have a max listing fee of Rs.1500/- for them.
But there are a few sellers who a very limited inventory of say 5 or 10 products like me and who do not mind paying any amount to showcase their inventory to the maximum number of buyer.
Restricting sellers to list less than the 10 allowed at present would do irreparable damage to their business. Their listing would simply be lost in the spam which will be created by the Rs.1500/- max listers.
So if I may go out, I can suggest the following. Let the new multiple listing policy be only applicable to those who opt for the Rs.1500/- cap. If seller like me want to have 100 listings of the same product and are willing to pay the requiste fees, they should not be restricted.
The new policy on .com allows a seller to list a product as many times his heart desires or as many times his business needs.
Do not in any case lower the max listing limit from the current 10. Infact I would go so far as to say, follow the .com model and allow to list as many times as possible.
Infact I has suggested that the Rs.1500/- should only be avaiable to sellers how can show a good conversion rate, say of 20%. Like say they can sell 1 listing out of 5. Only than it would make sense for them to have a listing fee rebate.
I can sell one listing out of 5 even after having 10 listings of the same product.
We understand that many sellers have shown concerns over 'Multiple listings' of the same item that sellers may resort to considering the RS. 1500/- slab and we are concerned about the same as well.
We have come up with this policy of Rs. 1500/- to ensure that we encourage our sellers to provide more variety, depth and large inventory on our platform. We will keep a close watch of any abuse of this policy and we would take strong actions. As sellers rightly suggested, 'modifying the Multiple Listings policy might be one such option.
We thank you for your passionate responses and hope to bring about a revolutionary change with these pricing changes .
FROM THE DAY, 1500/- MONTHLY FEES IS EFFECTED, THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY MULTIPLE LISTING OF A SINGLE PRODUCT. OTHERWISE, THIS OFFER WILL MAKE THE SELLING PART A NIGHTMARE FOR BUYERS, AS WE EXPERIENCED IN BAZEE DAYS, WHEN LISTINGS WERE FREE.
IT IS AN URGENT REQUIREMENT. WHEN YOU ARE GIVING A FACILITY, ALL LOOPHOLES MUST BE PLUGGED.
Hello, I think this price reduction is not a PERFECT idea It should have been accompanied with a New multi listing policy, which allows a user to do multi listing only 2 or 3 times, or else we will get a mad rush of listing . I am expecting the no of listing to go up by at least 10 times , the sad part is that those will have only repeated listings, searching for particular item will be a little difficult, it will create a bad buyer experience . I Think there is no point in saving on listing fee and then loosing sales.
I would recommend that - multi listing should be limited to 2 or 3 maximum - instead of making Rs1500 max listing fee, one should make slabs like x amount of listing for Rs 1500 , y amount for Rs2500 , like that not just flat 1500 Maximum for everyone overall the Idea is good but some changes are needed to make it work
Dear Sir, The present rate changes in FVF specially in the category 3 (which includes stamps, banknotes and coins) does not give incentive for selling high value items. The old system was better. Regards, valuables_in1
Hi, 2 reasons to rejoice for serious sellers. ILF is low. That means your shop is getting access in all sites. This was my long standing suggestion. I am happy. Very happy really. Technologies cats have their own reasons to celebrate. I got nothing to do with that. But this is a good move. Spammers are also happy. But ebay India will definitely do something to control such activities. Thanx, Truly, Amitava
in June the multiple items listing policy will be relaxed to allow sellers to list an unlimited quantity of identical items, previously the limit was 15 identical items
These are .com plans
Take a hint guys of what the long term plans are !!
I think I made mistake in previous post. The real calculations are still bad. Suppose I am ready to shell out Rs. 1500 per month and go in for unlimited listings. This is what will happen: I will list 1 item every 2 hours for duration of 1 day. So in 1 day will list 10 items of 1 day duration each. 1 item can be listed 10 times for 1 day durationx30 days= 300 items/month 10 unique items can be listed 10 times for 1 day durationx30 days= 3000 items/month 100 unique items can be listed 10 times for 1 day durationx30 days= 30000 items/month 1000 unique items can be listed 10 times for 1 day durationx30 days= 300000 items/month And so on… All this is without violating any eBay policy. An average seller today is shelling out over Rs. 1500 in eBay listing fees. He will not mind to multiply listings from 1 to 300 items at the same price per sku per month. It will leave buyers searching and searching.
It reminds me of the mess we had in past when listings were free. The only difference from 9th July will be is that eBay will charge Rs. 1500 per month.
cameras_n_such point of view is very important. there would be more spammers making ebay a headache by listing same item repeatedly. hence i suggest that ebay should allow this facility of 1500 listing on only those who are serious ebay sellers and have a feedback score of 500+ or 300+ and rating above 95%. one has to proove his worth on ebay in getting this facility. and repeat listing should be curtailed to maximum of 3 at a time. when i had joined ebay there were sellers who were listing same item repeatedly for more then 10 times and it was such a bad experience that i stopped browsing mostly in electronic/ computer hardware. i do not know the current scenario but ebay should be very strict with this. i have such bad memory that i still do not browse these categories.
1. I agree with the point that Rs 1500 upper limit can be troublesome. Even Mahaveerji from selling24x7 had the same concern when I spoke to him today.
2. Isn't the multiple listing limit 5 (and not 10). Whtever, doesn't matter.
For tech category - Selling costs would be on par with other sites and offline costs, except for mobiles.
So now the payout for Tech is approx 5% including PP charges. For mobiles it is still higher than offline margins.
Where I am uncomfortable with the change is the maximum listing fees of Rs.1500/- per seller id.
I think this is an open invitation to spammers and space grabbers. Now there will be more and more listings of the same products.
And don't tell me the max limit of 10 listings per product will control that.
In my meeting with the category team last week in ebaY's office they had acknowledged that there are sellers who has as many as 11 ids selling almost the same products. So know you can expect 110 listings of the same product by the same sellers.
Now please do about changing the max times a product is listed from 10 to 5 or 2.
There are sellers like me who have an inventory of only 5 - 10 product and still mange "Gold" PS status in good months, so I need to list a product atleast 10 times to give is some sort of visibility.
If with 10 x 10 x 10 (10 3 day listings in a month) = 1000 listings per month I can generate more sales than say someone with 500 skus listing only 1 time each (500 x 1 x 10 = 5000) listings, I should not be stopped from adopting my business model. Infact on ebay.com they are doing away with the max limit on number of listings.
I think the max limit of Rs.1500/- should only be given to sellers who have a conversion ratio of 20% or higher. i.e. they are able to sell 1 out of 5 listings. The percentage of sell through ratio may vary but we need a control on the spam which is going to come in the next few months.
Devesh
P.S.: I know there will be a number of sellers who will oppose my views but than everyone is entilled to his own view point and we should all appreciate the same.
eBAY HAS DONE A GREAT JOB, I AM VERY HAPPY TODAY. ESPECIALLY FOR THE NEWS OF Rs 1500 FOR ALL LISTING. NOW I CAN SELL FREELY WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT THE INITIAL COST.
Dear Indraneel, Forgive me please. I find that listing fee at ebay.com is Rs1.38INR with a gallery pic. The changes at my home site are not sooooooooo great. I am sorry for telling the truth. Not everybody will speak truth. I really appreciate your books/mags listing ideas. But thats all. Anyways, something is better than nothing. Good luck. Thanx, Truly, Amitava
thankyou ebay. it was a great move. i was always wondering why ebay is not encouraging people to use shop and/or increase listings. why were big sellers not given some benefits. now it has happened. for 1500 you can just go on listing and listing on India. i wish if ebay does something like this for ILF. like 10000 or 15000 just go on listing on ILF. This will be a big booster. The conversions on international listings are more then in national listings. hence higher sales and higher feedbacks so higher vibrancy and this will encourage Indians to share this platform in their more day to day activities. Right now there are very few Indians on site and we should make all efforts to tap India with its vast population. Hence it is really a very positive approach in very positive direction. all my ebay seller friends let us take full advantage of this. Thanks Indraneel, Navin, Seema, Arun, TNS people and ofcourse all of ebay ..............
I am extremely delighted to see the reduction in International listing fees...Thanx ebay...Thanx a ton for this positive move in enhancing the seller's expereince
WOW!!! Its a great announcement for sellers after a long time. I am very happy with the ILF being reduced. Thanks to eBay Team members for working hard to finally revise the fee structure.
Hope now eBay India sales will go to a great height internationally.
